Seeking Wisdom

"Nearly all the wisdom we possess, that is to say, true and sound wisdom, consists of two parts: the knowledge of God and of ourselves."
(John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion, vol. 1, p. 35, translated by Ford Lewis Battles)

Wisdom is the greater part of our searching.

Proverbs 4:7 “ The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom;
And with all your acquiring, get understanding. (NASB)

How we lack it! And what is sought is by and large of no value, for it is most often sought for temporal time. That which is temporal has little value. What is eternal has true value. So why should one seek what he cannot keep? Ought he not diligently search for what he cannot loose? In what is your time spent, seeking the things of this earth or of eternity?

Colossians 3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. (NASB)
